Heat has long been used to ease muscle tension and pain. It helps increase blood flow to the affected area. It may also reduce muscle spasms, increase flexibility and range of motion. Cold therapy helps relieve inflammation. Depending on your symptoms, alternating hot and cold stones during your massage may be helpful.

Promotes sleep and reduces stress and anxiety

Massage promotes relaxation and sleep through the parasympathetic nervous system. This system when activated will create a calmness within the body. It is what is know as your 'Rest and Digest' mode. Getting into this state more often, will help promote better sleep long term.

Hot stone massage is a great add on to your traditional massage, as it promotes faster healing by increasing new blood flow to the area. It quickly decreases muscle tension and muscle adhesions allowing for noticeably more range of motion and movement within the body at the end of treatment.

The effects of heat include: soften connective tissue, increase vasodilation, local circulation, metabolism, collagen extensibility and intestinal activity.
